Question 1

Is this an official Dandadan tool?

Accepted Answer

No. Nazuke is an independent, fan-made tool and is not affiliated with the creators, publishers, studios or production committee of Dandadan. It only uses ordinary Japanese words and kanji to capture the mood of a world of ghosts, aliens and high-school chaos.

Question 2

How are the kanji chosen?

Accepted Answer

Your name is first turned into Japanese sounds. For each sound, Nazuke looks for kanji that real Japanese names read that way, then gives extra points to characters that fit the side and the power you picked, and to the personality you chose. Every result explains what each character means.

Question 3

Are these real Japanese names?

Accepted Answer

They are creative kanji spellings of your own name, the way foreign words were once written in kanji. Japanese readers will see the meaning of each character. In everyday Japanese, your name would be written in katakana.

Question 4

Can I use my kanji name for cosplay or fan works?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Use it on a cosplay name tag, a fan fiction profile or a gamer tag. For a tattoo, read our kanji tattoo checklist first and ask a Japanese speaker to check the design.

Question 5

What is the status card?

Accepted Answer

The best match also gets an epithet, such as 『星屑の星見』 (The Stardust Stargazer), and five stats ranked D to S. They come from the side and power you pick, and the same name always gets the same card. It is just for fun.
