Question 1

Is this an official Demon Slayer tool?

Accepted Answer

No. Nazuke is an independent, fan-made tool and is not affiliated with the creators, publishers, studios or production committee of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. It only uses ordinary Japanese words and kanji to capture the mood of a world of demon hunters.

Question 2

How are the kanji chosen?

Accepted Answer

Your name is first turned into Japanese sounds. For each sound, Nazuke looks for kanji that real Japanese names read that way, then gives extra points to characters that fit the side and the fighting style you picked, and to the personality you chose. Every result explains what each character means.

Question 3

Are these real Japanese names?

Accepted Answer

They are creative kanji spellings of your own name, the way foreign words were once written in kanji. Japanese readers will see the meaning of each character. In everyday Japanese, your name would be written in katakana.

Question 4

Can I use my kanji name for cosplay or fan works?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Use it on a cosplay name tag, a fan fiction profile or a social media handle. For a tattoo, read our kanji tattoo checklist first and ask a Japanese speaker to check the design.

Question 5

Why do some characters look dark?

Accepted Answer

This page allows kanji such as 鬼 (demon), 闇 (darkness) and 冥 (underworld) that the classic Nazuke tool leaves out, because they suit a night-battle story. If you want a gentler name, try the classic version.
