Question 1

Is this an official Jujutsu Kaisen tool?

Accepted Answer

No. Nazuke is an independent, fan-made tool and is not affiliated with the creators, publishers or studios of Jujutsu Kaisen. It only uses ordinary Japanese words and kanji to capture the mood of a world of curses.

Question 2

How are the kanji chosen?

Accepted Answer

Your name is first turned into Japanese sounds. For each sound, Nazuke looks for kanji that can be read that way, then gives extra points to characters that fit the side and the power you picked, and to the personality you chose. Every result explains what each character means.

Question 3

Are these real Japanese names?

Accepted Answer

They are creative kanji spellings of your own name, the way foreign words were once written in kanji. Japanese readers will see the meaning of each character. In everyday Japanese, your name would be written in katakana.

Question 4

Can I use my kanji name for cosplay or a tattoo?

Accepted Answer

For cosplay, a name tag or a profile, go ahead. For a tattoo, read our kanji tattoo checklist first and ask a Japanese speaker to check the design, since some of these characters have dark meanings on purpose.

Question 5

Why do some characters look dark or scary?

Accepted Answer

This page allows kanji such as 呪 (curse), 禍 (calamity) and 冥 (underworld) that the classic Nazuke tool leaves out, because they suit a dark battle story. If you want a gentler name, try the classic version.
